Live Draft thread

I just got off with psycho Wonder. Had me laughing. Says that by the end of the day $nyder will end up with $anchez, and that barring Sanchez being the next Joe Montana, he will have wrecked the Redskins in the process. Between Hayne$worth and Hall (completely in$ane) and the $tupid rookie guaranteed $alary money, I do not even under$tand how he pull$ it off. If Wonder is right, it'll kill his cap for year$. Snyder needs a straightjacket, he cannot help himself.

BTW, on a separate but related topic, someone please tell me what the NFL is doing with starting this at 4PM? Money, of course, they bump a few extra dollars of tv revenue for the event. BFD. Meanwhile, this is one of the the most important times of the year for all of their franchises, and they sentence these staffs to no sleep this evening as they prepare for tomorrow at 10AM. Becuase you know they won't be done with this until 10pm to midnight, and then the work just begins with sorting through what each team has done, and figuring out who is left to ascertain what to do blah blah. Miserable creatures.

  1. How did the Manning bros get Matt Stafford's cell number to send him a text message? Does everyone in the NFL just have everyone else's #?

  2. herm, on espn, cannot hurt any franchise there

    ReplyDelete
  3. kiper doesnt like tyson jackson, wonder does, he shot up to #3. tyson jackson was a rampant bull market

    ReplyDelete
  4. I wonder if KC just wants to take LSU's whole defense, since they've already got Dorsey to go with Jackson...

    ReplyDelete
  5. this is the spot where redskins may do something really stupid and (overpay) for sanchez

    ReplyDelete
  6. Jesus Christ, what has happened to Seattle's colors? That green is awful!

    ReplyDelete
  7. What did the Jets give up? Surely they're taking Sanchez...

    ReplyDelete
  8. great deal for the Jets, says wonder, wonder is ecstatic with the terms, gave up next to nothing

    ReplyDelete
  9. Are you serious? I think the Jets gave up way too much for Sanchez.

    ReplyDelete
  10. cinc needs to take monroe, will take andre smith, and this is going to be another bad move for the bengals

    ReplyDelete
  11. Oak is on and interesting to see where they go Maclin or Crabtree. If they take Maclin Carbtree could fall a bit further....maybe an opportunity for the Gs to move up??

Cincy is doomed again.....talk about chemistry and character!

    ReplyDelete
  12. And the craziness begins...first Smith, then Heyward-Bey. This is going to be a weird round.

    ReplyDelete
  13. jax should RUN to the podium w crabtree!

    ReplyDelete
  14. jacksonville is roaring! kiper is 100% correct, TRADE DOWN if u want hbey

    ReplyDelete
  15. Al's fascination with speed wins over again.....give me freakin' break Crabtree is by far the superior receiver in this draft.

They have an opportunity for some good players at this rate.

    ReplyDelete
  16. if the giants would have taken hbey at #7, I would have shot Reese- that was horrible, even if u want him, TRADE DOWN!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  17. HA! Was Herm responsible for the Raiders taking H-B? Too perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  18. elam and coleman are basically subs, ratliff wonder likes, so it is god deal for jets

    ReplyDelete
  19. wonder thinks giants should move up for crabtree

    ReplyDelete
  20. w hbey gone, I am happy, it means the giants arent trading up for him

    ReplyDelete
  21. If SF passes trade with Denver to snag Crabtree....a steal at that spot, if not already!

    ReplyDelete
  22. hbey and crabtree will be linked for their entire careers, sf and oak in the bay area

    ReplyDelete
  23. SF #1 so far with Crabtree, Jets #2 with their deal for Sanchez, and an obvious last place to Oakland

    ReplyDelete
  24. eagles just got screwed with marano gone

    ReplyDelete
  25. Redskins were real quick on the trigger to get Orakpo.

    ReplyDelete
  26. HAHA keyshawn just said Donald Brown needs a new couch

    ReplyDelete
  27. how about this for more oakland insanity-they will have to pay hbey 7th pick salary too... you MUST trade down, for oh so many reasons.

    ReplyDelete
  28. so far, so good for the giants, nice to see the tweeners like maybin gone, the less-rated cb's like jenkins gone. the fact that wonder has darrius butler rated ahead of jenkins does not mean anything, but so far it is a decent set up. at least we don't have to watch the giants trade up for hbey.

    ReplyDelete
  29. How far down does Michael Oher fall? Do the Giants trade up for him?

    ReplyDelete
  30. orakpo needs a 4-3, not big enuf for pros, a tweener, bad pick by Washington says Wonder

    ReplyDelete
  31. oher would be very good for the giants, the skins should have taken him

    ReplyDelete
  32. denver will draft oher, the second best move of the draft

    ReplyDelete
  33. denver may take one of the usc lbers, but oher is the pick

    ReplyDelete
  34. You know who is out there and at a great value......They have to pull the trigger and get a franchise MLB. Trade with Denver now after their target (Freeman) was snagged.

    ReplyDelete
  35. ayers is a good player, but it does not fit- denver is a 3-4, ayers is a 4-3 DE.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Andy--are you surprised Maclin is still available? what do you think about NYG trading up for him?

    ReplyDelete
  37. maclin could help the return game....not to crazy bout em

    ReplyDelete
  38. I'm afraid the Giants are gonna draft one of these guys like Nicks or Britt....neither will really help the passing game next year.

Sigh--Its still early and I still hold out hope Reese makes something happens w/Edwards or Boldin.

But if this draft ends without us getting one of those guys....Reese failed. We cant go into camp with essentially the same WR situation as last year.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Maclin & Jackson, Curtis...that's a lot of speed

    ReplyDelete
  40. In Reese we trust. Not following the crowd and not reaching to fill a need. Gotta' be a reason Maclin fell that far.

I am excited about how this is playing out so far.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Micheal Oher is my surprise slip....i pray the G men can get em

    ReplyDelete
  42. detroit will never be good, Horrible pick

    ReplyDelete
  43. very likely giants gets usc LB, potential problems Patriots, Dolphins, Ravens, Colts,

    ReplyDelete
  44. why the hell didn't we trade up to get harvin ??

    ReplyDelete
  45. Harvin and Peterson...in Minny...that's a 1-2 punch

    ReplyDelete
  46. dont trade up for wr's. we look good for either a OLineman or LBer

    ReplyDelete
  47. Or why the hell didn't we trade up to get maclin ?

    ReplyDelete
  48. im think we pick NICKS if he is there....but i would love to see us get OHLER

    ReplyDelete

  50. have dave this way RULES...old fashion....i still have a VCR and a cassette player

    ReplyDelete
  51. If Mc Nabb has time to throw the ball, the Eagles are going to be hell on turf with Maclin, Westbrook
    and De Shaun Jackson.

We need to be better than them.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Ha, fair enough, Nature. Hoping one of those USC LBs is still there at 29...

    ReplyDelete
  53. giants should go up and get mualuga

    ReplyDelete
  54. new england will take my guy Maualugaggauuaga

    ReplyDelete
  55. peria was good for us because he was a dl we were not taking. vontae davis not as good as darius butler, so we are vg now, we will have our choice of someone good, specifically one of the USC LBers(?)

    ReplyDelete
  56. the giants have the 2 LBERS, Butler, Britton, Beatty, BROWN RB Uconn, Beanie Wells, and only 3 picks are ahead of us. great if we can get one of those 2 LBers

    ReplyDelete
  57. packers trade up for ne pick, they went defense w raji, maybe they take one of the OL guys

    ReplyDelete
  58. matthews is the WLL, and Boley is the WLL, so the giants prob would not have taken him anyway

    ReplyDelete
  59. one pick away from maualuga? wonder thinks buf does not take maualuga. we have one of the following, maualuga, britton, butler

    ReplyDelete
  60. eric wood, lololol Wonder says Buf has no clue!!!

    ReplyDelete
  61. he is there ANDY cross your fingers...if the GIANTS dont take him im going to lose my DAMN mind....dont go wide REESE go MLB

    ReplyDelete
  62. I WANT THE LBer but I will take Butler

    ReplyDelete
  63. wonder's list: 1) Britt 2) Butler 3) Maualuga

    ReplyDelete
  64. go maualuga, for the first time in 25 years!!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. once again the giants didnt draft a LBer in the first round....im not upset with the pick but i think Mauluga would have been better

    ReplyDelete
  66. OH MY GOD! NO! REY MAUALUGA FELL TO US AND WE DID... NOT... TAKE... HIM! THAT WAS A HUUUUUUGE MISTAKE! DAMMIT!

    ReplyDelete
  67. SAL PAL says he caught every ball at his workout

    ReplyDelete
  68. and he also didn't pass up the free lunch

    ReplyDelete
  69. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE pick. I hate what Reese is doing with this draft right now.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Britt, the guy wonder wanted better than Nicks. We'll come back to see who was right. I'll bet on Wonder and the Titans.

    ReplyDelete
  71. OK, so now the question is: who will be left 14 picks from now? Who will take Maualuga? What LB's might be left (don't want Laurinaitis)?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Damn, I would have been the only guy with 5 points for Maualuga!!!

    ReplyDelete
  73. I'm praying to the god of every religion that nobody takes Maualuga til 2nd rnd pick 13 so we can nab him still. That would be tremendous. If we got both Nicks and Maualuga, we'd be so bad ass going into camp. Cuz if we got rey also, we could trade kiwi, and then maybe edwards hope would be alive. But none of that is going to happen... we'll see where were at when we are picking, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Something is very wrong with Malagula
if he fell to the second round.

    ReplyDelete
  75. we should come up and ge #58 from usc

    ReplyDelete
  76. What does Spagnuolo know that we don't?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Nature, yes you are right.

But it makes me wonder, why did
Spagnoli just pass on Malalaluga ???

    ReplyDelete
  78. we have too many late picks, use them
    to trade up, NOW !!

    ReplyDelete
  79. bob- u r right, we were eating dinner, watching maualuga drop and drop, there has to be something wrong. and when laurinaitis went ahead of him, that was the final tell.

    ReplyDelete
  80. well guys dont say nothing when that LONG HAIR is hanging out of a BENGALS helmet in the PRO BOWL years from now

    ReplyDelete
  81. Poor son of a bitch -- stuck with the Bengals and the drop in value from having been taken in the 2nd round.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I don't understand why Reese didn't trade up to get him

    ReplyDelete
  83. we got sintim, look at the EARLIEST draft talk he was a guy that i talked about for the LB position in the 2nd round

    ReplyDelete
  84. Wahoo-Wah and all that, but who's Sintim?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Andy

    You finally got a LB.

    Is he any good ?

Why the hell aren't we trading up ?
Could have grabbed Malaluga or Britt
    if we were more aggressive.

    ReplyDelete
  86. all i know is he had 27 sacks for his college career

    ReplyDelete
  87. Reese knows we don't have enough bucks to sign all 10 picks. He probably now will have to trade them for futures

    ReplyDelete
  88. Clint Sintim is a good OLB, but TOO SOON. NE gets Darius Butler. We had all these OL sitting there, Unger, Beatty, Loadholt. Clint Sintim is not quick or fast enough to be taken at this 45 spot. Not fast enough for OLB. Best as an inside LB in a 3-4, the tackler guy, not the cover guy. So where does he go, asks Wonder. One hope... the guy can hit and the guy can tackle. Groom him to play MLB. But certainly not able to play the Mike on 3rd down.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sintim was ranked as the 4th best OLB on most draft boards behind Curry and the USC backers. Solid tackler, smart, good in coverage, strong pass rush. Good choice as Reese took the best player available at a position of need.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Mystified by this pick. He's a 3-4 OLB, clearly. What are they going to do with him? They already have a tweener in Kiwi. Are the Kiwi for Edwards trade rumor's true?

    ReplyDelete
  91. Wonder does not understand the draft this year. Nicks does not have height. Britt is taller and faster. Jumps higher. Nicks has more polish and better hands. Perhaps. But you cannot teach size and speed. So the homerun is the one with the most potential, and that would be Britt, whom the Titans took at 30.

As for Sintim, where does he play? if you wanted MLB, why not take Maualuga? So Wonder does not understand the Giants draft. And last point by Wonder, how can you not get Braylon Edwards?

Do you trade Hakeem Nicks and a 5th rounder for Braylon Edwards? (Rumor was that CLE wanted a 1 and 5?) Do you trade Nicks and Sintim for Edwards to get him to NY? It makes no sense to Wonder.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Andy

I think the Giants do not want to pay 10 million per down the road for Edwards...that has to be it. But for my 2 cents we will go into the season without a legitimate #1 receiver...

    ReplyDelete
  93. seems to me that the only way to get Edwards now is to trade Kiwi.....
which I don't want to do.

We have to keep the Eagles in mind at
all times. they're building a hell of an O, and we will need a hell of a D to stop them

    ReplyDelete
  94. yes, and without a legitimate #1
receiver, we may have a weak O.

I keep thinking about the playoff game vs the Eagles.

Their O and our D are getting better.

However our O is on very shakey ground.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Shonn Greene RB, Duke Robinson G, Rashad Johnson S. Any of these three would make this draft good.

    ReplyDelete
  96. If the medical issues are ok, Brinkley too. Safety is a need for the Giants. OL is a need for the Giants. Beatty or Johnson makes me happy.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Okay, Martin from Troy taken by Carolina, so all those players mentioned are ready for the Giants here at 60.

    BEATTY OT
    JOHNSON S
    ROBINSON G

they all fit need, especially Johnson and Beatty

    ReplyDelete
  98. FINALLY WE UNDERSTOOD WHAT THE F WAS GOING ON, THAT JOHNSON AT SAFETY OR BEATTY AT TACKLE WERE FOR NEED. THIS IS HUGE HELP FOR MCKENZIE AND DIEHL. DIEHL CAN EVEN MOVE BACK TO RT AND BEATTY CAN BE YOUR LT TOO.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Again, an area of need. Our o-line is solid, but we need to build for the future. Beatty was a good choice in this spot. I wouldn't mind a safety and another OL.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Beatty is a tremendously athletic tackle who has superior feet. He moves well laterally and gets to the second level instantly. He engages on the opposition quickly and does a good job of keeping defenders at arms length. He doesn’t sustain blocks very long, but can hold his own. He displays good awareness and works well with his linemates. He’s still developing as a player, but his upside is off the charts. - Chris Steuber, Scout.com

    ReplyDelete
  101. I still think we should be trading up, to get S. Greene, Robinson, or Johnson.

    ReplyDelete
  102. This is in answer to Daniel and the first question posed on this thread.

I'm pretty sure the Mannings and Stafford have the same agent.

Who knows? Maybe Stafford went to their QB camp in Louisiana at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  103. BTW, re: not being happy with Nicks and Sintim...Reese hasn't screwed up yet and I think deserves the benefit of the doubt.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Justin- Reese is very smart and obvly has access to more info than we have. The next post, which sums up the day, addresses that point in a more macro way. We all trust Reese. I just think it was not in the cards for us for where we were picking to get a LBer to fall to us that would have been as desirable. In 3 years we will have to look back and see about Phillips, Ellerbe, Brinkley, Freeman, as potential LBers who could have been taken ahead of Sintim (and are still available). Perhaps we can find one of these tomorrow. I am mostly disappointed about not getting Edwards and then simultaneously doing what I dislike so much, committing all of these resources in the draft to WR YEAR AFTER YEAR, unrelenting.
