Giants missed the boat on Barrett, picked Jonathan Goff

Wonder: "Goff is a good solid inside plugging LB but he belongs in a 3-4, not the Giants 4-3. To have a chance at Barrett at that spot and pass him up is terrible, mindless."

Separately Wonder is in mourning for not getting QB Josh Johnson (taken two spots ahead of the Jets). Re QB Ainge, "just what we need, another weak-armed QB."

We cannot figure out why this guy, who is 6'3", 230 lbs., runs a 40 in 4.35 at the combine. Cannot teach that. Drugs, arrest? Some kind of skeleton in his closet? I do not want to spread rumors, but it is about the only thing I can think about, that teams brought him in and did not like what they saw. At this point in the draft what is there to risk? And the Giants have back to back picks.

Scouts, Inc.'s Doug Kretz: Mike, he (Barrett) does not play as fast as he times. Speed is nice, but instincts and "game speed" are more important for the safety position. Plus he has medical questions.

Got this off ESPN's draftcast thing.

WHY???!!! WHY ANDRE WOODSON? WHY? that is a complete waste of a late round draft pick. A waste!

he was second team SEC, good arm, that was not a total waste, but I think that w these picks u take a shot on someone else. re Barrett, everyone ...all 32 teams obvly see something wrong w him. I have a great deal of trust in Reese. Now it is in the hands of the coaches and time.

I don't have a problem with the Woodson pick. The guy has all the tools, and could develop into a solid backup QB, which is important to have. Getting him in the 6th round is good value.

Let's say that, down the road, Eli goes down for half a season. Having a good backup QB can make a 2-win difference, which can be huge.

My only complaint with the draft is the lack of offensive line help. As Andy has pointed out repeatedly, we could really use an upgrade from Diehl one of these years. Are we sold on Wimper and Koets for the future?
