Umenyiora bails on Sheridan/practice

1) Osi Umenyiora stormed out of practice. It may be over but where there is smoke there is fire. The last thing this team needs is a coordinator/head coach whose authority is questioned. That authority has to be unquestioned. A Pro Bowl player cannot do this. He is a leader. This incident has a chance of disappearing. Let's hope it is not any bigger than it already is.

Is it me or does this entire situation feel like the 2004-2006 Coughlin era is back? Players vs the coaches. IF the relationship between the coaches and players is anything less than 100% supportive we do not have a chance.

2) Carl Banks on WFAN yesterday.
a) these WRs are able to get open
b) Lack of veteran leadership at WR can be a negative for the young WRs (drops)
c) Giants: "a long way to go and a short time to get there"
d) the NFC East is too strong, the Giants have no choice but to get there

3) Boley is back.

4) 7th round draft pick CB Stoney Woodson was cut.

Garafolo in his comment wrap of the game had this to say:

"If I'm opposing teams, I'm running a lot of shotgun draws between left guard and left tackle because DE Osi Umenyiora is so fast up the field that he creates a huge hole to run there. It happened on a first-and-15 late in the first quarter when Washington picked up 6 yards. (I actually thought he should have gotten a lot more with what he was given there, but he didn't take it outside where he would have been 1-on-1 with S Michael Johnson.) Not only would those runs pick up a bunch of yards if blocked correctly, they might also get Umenyiora to slow down his pass rush a bit."

I suppose it may have to do a little with what Garafolo stated. When I first read MG's comments about Osi I disagreed vehemenently. Don't take away from his style of play and ability. You compensate by filling the gap with a DT or an LB in that situation. The chemistry of this D is a concern so far based on their performance thus far. I presume it has to do with all the injuries and a little with the transition to a new DC but now I am wondering if it's more.

This better go away and Coughlin better get this under control quickly or yes there will be no Super Bowl chances this year.

I think we're about to see how much Spagnolo helped this team. The new comradarie on the team 2 years ago was credited to Coughlin's change of heart and the leadership council. But maybe a major part of it was Steve Spagnolo and how well the defensive players played for him. Just from his body language on the sideline, I don't good vibes from Sheridan. It could all be meaningless, but that's my gut feel.

If our D isn't a strength, then we are very vulnerable.

TC better get this team's act together, and damm quickly.

Amazing how what we considered our dominant point weeks ago, is now in question. I suspect a little success on the field will make these issues go away. It would help a lot to get the injured guys back.

This kind of "me first" B.S. from pro athletes really annoys me. These guys are professionals & paid large sums of money for performance,..... they need to act as such. The media has overbuilt their importance & their egos to the point that they think that they are above the team. We have seen time & time again that
this causes big problems.

Team First !! is the only way to win in the NFL.
