March Madness

Frequent viewers of the blog know the deal I made with the Mrs. I got all NFL games and March Madness, she got everything else. It has been a very good deal for both of us. The baseball strike of 1994 made it even easier to boycott that sport.

The thing that the NFL and March Madness have in common?! -> Single elimination, no excuses. It creates great drama, and for us as fans we get to watch a tournament with hyperbole everywhere.

I admit I did not follow the college basketball season this year as closely I have in other years. That is mostly a function of how well my father's Illinois is doing. Illinois is garbage this year, we have them losing in the first round. My father knows a thing or two about college basketball. He used to be a scout for Illinois back in the day. His Final Four are: Wake Forest, Pitt, UNC and Memphis. Defense is his theme. Memphis over UNC in the final. With the randomness of the tournament, your selections are as good as any of his. Let us know who your Final Four are.

NC takes all over Louis. We shall see. God I love this time of year!

waaaaaaa! Demon Deacons out. waaaaa!

Get a grip, Andy, there is NO CRYING IN BRACKETOLOGY!

I felt like Indiana Jones in the third installment, where a near miss (Villanova Elite 8) has me and my Dad laughing, only to have the car go into the crater by a new bomb (Wake Forest) seconds later. But this exactly why we all love March Madness. Would not have it any other way.

Onto the weekend round of 32. These two days are the best of tournament. 32 teams, 16 great games coming at you non-stop.

I just knew Siena would win last night ( Double OT) ...but uh oh..look who is there on the horizon....

I agree w/ Andy the opportunity to make it to the Sweet 16 on Saturday & Sunday is what it is all about.

Really, I like watching that South Bracket...Tar Heels, Syracuse, ( love Jonny Flynn ) Gonzaga, Oklahoma (Blake Griffin is Da Man)

I know I'm getting ahead of myself...but if we can see UConn & Memphis ( like the old battles between UMass & UConn ) "no love lost there w/ Calipari & Calhoun" for a spot in the Final 4 that would be must see TV.

Looks like we all got crushed on our final four predictions, but Mona is the only person with a shot for picking the eventual winner. Mona gets the win, regardless of the outcome tomorrow night.
