Phil Simms this morning

1) Colts could be 4-0 or 0-4. At 2-2 they are very fortunate. Peyton Manning healthy, these first 4 weeks were like training camp for him. He needs to be more mobile this year, moving more because he has two rookies on the OL that force him to move sooner than he would like.
2) Ravens face the Colts in the game that Simms covers. Big OL. Offense is too tepid, needs to take a few more chances to open up, relies too much on the strong defense. Simms says a FG will decide the game.
3) Gonzalez trade? The Giants' offense is focused more on the WR, the TE is more of an outlet only. Would be surprised if the Giants gave up enough to make the deal happen. He did qualify it earlier by saying 'why not' do it if the compensation is not too great.
4) Single Wing is a fad. It mixes up your offense to break tendency, but this will not be a new trend and will remain limited.
5) Rivers changed his throwing motion, reverted back to rookie mechanics, his pass lost accuracy and strength after the first two weeks. SD is beat up.
6) Redskins are playing with spirit, energy and toughness. Athletic, they play fast. Saw it in Dallas and saw it once again in Philadelphia. Faster and tougher than the Eagles. 'Amazing' what Zorn has done.

Do you personally talk to Simms? Where do you get this information?

I'm not saying I disbelieve this report; in fact I believe what you write here is true. I'm just wondering where it comes from.

I don't live in the metropolitan area anymore so my exposure to New York sports is different than if I did still live there.

Phil Simms is on wfan.com (for those who are not in the greater NY metro area) every Sunday morning with Mike Francesa at ~945am. Where possible we like to forward his comments... Simms understands the league like few do, and is willing to share his (often candid) insights in a way that adds to our understanding of the NFL and the Giants. Use the search bar in the upper left and see what Simms has been saying this season. For example, he gave the heads up on why Dallas got beat by Skins BEFORE the Skins did it again to the Eagles.

I think that Phil demonstrates an uncanny understanding of the game. His comments are insightful and typically accurate. He is far more knowledgeable and less offensive than Boomer Esiason. That guy just rubs me the wrong way - just hearing his voice irritates me now. It's kind of like the Seinfeld episode when Kramer develops a nervous reaction to Mary Hart's voice.

Wow. The Redskins survive a 3 week gauntlet that included road wins at Dallas and Philly only to come home and fall in the final seconds against the freaking Rams. Ah, the NFL. You can't let down in this league. Ever. Never ever ever ever.

Francesa nailed that one... he warned that the Skins had just had two tough games and now were going to let down vs a weaker opponent. He called it what it was, a trap game. And trapped they were.

My heart breaks for the boys losing OT. Sweet.

Too bad about the Cowboys. Although, to their credit, they did win the walkthrough.

Oh, well, let the whining, like this from last week continue.
