Plaxico Burress Shot, John Clayton ESPN reports

Not a life-threatening injury. First things first, we all hope the man is okay, which is what it sounds like. A distant second, for the Giants, the Burress circus side show continues.

I don't know why but I found the fact that he shot HIMSELF in the foot outrageously funny. I can't stop laughing.

The link gets updated with details as they come out.

Plaxico Burress as a cliche. You can't make this stuff up. Pastime, u r right on, it has me laughing now, at how life imitates art.

gosh, wtf is going on with plax? is he trying to mess everything up? he is the only distraction on the team.

This is beginning to look like drug or alcohol addiction here. These are bizzare stories that have been a part of Plax's life as of late. I could find no other reasonable explanation for these happenings.

There is a line in the movie A Bronx Tale that really does fit.

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent."

How could he be so browning stupid. And if he is injured, why is he out partying? Keep a low profile.

Just looking at the headlines, I can see why people find this funny. The NY Times, however, notes that Burress got married last year and has a young son.

I find it sad that a 31-year-old man with the personal and professional responsibilities of Burress would be at a place where he felt it necessary to carry a gun. Doesn't it matter to him if his son grows up with his father around?

The Times reports that Burress has been released from the hospital, which is good news. Like Mitch, I have to wonder if behavior like this is symptomatic of substance abuse. Or is he really just that immature?

Wonder: "Buress is slowly becoming the Jints' version of TO, MOSS, and Ocho Cinco rolled into one...and to think they figured out moving Shockey would.....TRADE HIM as soon as SB is OVER...hopefully he PLAYS well to maximize trade value...but Cinc will PROBABLY be moving 85, Walker, and who can guess who else will be on trading block..but IF NYG can get a 2nd,4th I'd do it in a second...just not sure of salary cap ramifications..."

what a browning idiot !!

in addition to threatening the teams future & his own career,
this f-ing immaturity will wind up costing him a ton of $$$

a total jerk.

I figured another shoe was going to drop with PB, but I sure as hell didn't expect him to be the first NFL player to shoot himself in a club. If he wasn't already, he's definitely a walking punchline now.

Hey, we are all missing the point. He didn't have a carry permit in NYC. Carrying a loaded gun is a felony. Not only are there criminal ramifications, but the league will surely impose some kind of punishment too. Imagine if he shot someone else, instead of himself. Think how terrible it would be for that other person, the Giants and all of the members of this blog. He is a selfish, immature, jerk. You really wonder what he learned in that military academy he went to as a child

this is the end of Plexico & the NYG

I wake up this morning and read the entire article in the Daily News that now implicates Antonio Pierce as an accomplice...This is not good!

Here is a portion of the article:

Pierce, 30, rushed to his bleeding teammate and applied pressure to the wound as Burress screamed in pain amid the hip-hop beats piping through the club, sources said. As he worked to slow the bleeding, Pierce berated Burress for bringing a loaded handgun into a club.

Panicking, Burress told his teammate not to call 911 for an ambulance, sources said.

Pierce helped the bloodied receiver out of the club before taking off with the gun and stashing it somewhere in New Jersey, sources said.

I also find this statement extremely funny. What does it take to violate this thing?

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told the Daily News it was too soon to determine if the shooting was a violation of the league's personal conduct policy.
