Minn 20 NYG 19

If we are going to have our choice of Kasey missing last week or Longwell missing this week, I take Kasey. And so it really did not matter whether the FG makes or misses today, it makes, this is purely cosmetic. The important thing out of this game was that the Giants played with plenty of second and third stringers and did fine. David Carr played behind a decent offensive line and did well. He hit Hixon (TD) where Eli missed him. Carr's mobility is good, it gives the Giants a little bit of that Hostetler dimension. I wish Manning would run the ball once or twice per game just to break the back of the defense. He is always given enuf daylight for that. We saw the TE move the chains on a few occasions; keep using that TE.. on the lone TD drive, it is a TE reception by Johnson which keeps the drive alive on a nice 3rd down pickup. Everyone out there who wants to run the ball down the opponent's throat must realize that you need that TE to extend these drives. Without it, they will not get the touches you want. Butler had some bad plays, but he almost (and should have) single-handedly won the game with his INT. Webster missed a pick-6, but played well. Moss looked very good. He has the speed to stretch the defense, not as big a target as a Boss for that long reception, but use him to keep the defense honest. You have to love those quick slants to these WRs, Manningham. As noted in the intragame comments, Tuck looked very good in stopping one drive for a FG and another on downs. Only loss was Sam Madison, who broke his ankle. Considering how many games he was inactive, this will not be a loss unless our secondary goes thru another injury run like last offseason. Ware looked good. The kickoff coverage is atrocious, put Tynes on the active roster so that we can get some distance on kickoffs. This was a freaking dome that Carney was kicking in, those pooch kicks are an embarrassment. I know we are all biased about the officiating, but I thought the Giants got screwed on more than a few calls today... this is why you have to shoot to get 'quality' wins (>10 pts) in the postseason because these refs couldn't buy a good call if their life depended on it. You can easily argue today's outcome was caused by the officials. Good thing it does not matter.

Summary: The Giants punched their time clocks today, they played hard, they had all subs in by the end of the game, NEXT. Well deserved and well needed rest, JacobsBossRossCofield all did not even dress, my bet is that all would have played if necessary. Kudos to Coughlin for getting the Giants in there with focus and out of there with their health, building on last week and getting ready for the postseason.

Separately-1: they switched to the Saints, up by 1, and then the kick by Carolina. Some of you may have been looking for Carolina to lose and drop to #5, but for my money, I was rooting for the Saints to get the extra loss and the better draft pick for us.

Separately-2: Dal vs. Phl for a playoff spot. I hope these two teams kill each other, go into quintuple OT and need Garrett and Reid to suit up.

Love your point on seperately #2....3-0 Eagles in triple and beat the browning out of each other.

Kudos on Moss as I have always wondered why they don't use him in quick slants over the middle to utilize his speed and quickness ala Welker. Darcy Johnson can be a big contributor for 2 receptions to stretch the safeties...solid receiving TE. Ware was promising.

Only concerns relate to how they have had a tendency lately to give up big rushing plays on short yardage situations.....Westbrook, Choice etc.... How much we have criticized Ross but based on who replaced him today what do you think now? Bradshaw was not as effective as I hoped which leads me to question whether he is overhyped?? And finally, they have got to do something with the kickoff team as that was truly pathetic. They looked like the Lions in that category.

In terms on the draft picks. The Jets will probably get the Saints 2nd round pick because Vilma was healthy all year so the Giants would get the Saints 1st rd instead of 2nd and 5th. Vilma would need to play 85% of the snaps, I dont know if he did that because of all the different packages but he did not miss a game so I think he had a very good shot at getting that percentage. With 2 first round picks, maybe we can get some Lbs, but other than that, who do the Giants draft, and do they go after Boldin?

I must say I was disappointed with Bradshaw today. He had 10 touches for only 28 yds. I realize he was mostly playing behind the second string line.

The Giants will get the Saints #2 pick, not the #1, because the Saints would need to re-sign Vilma by a certain deadline, it is NOT happening because even if they did, they would post-date the deal and not enact the clause.

Wade Phillips is out of a job as head coach. The new coach is.. Tony Romo, who waived off the punting team on 4th down and dove for a first down. Phillips is such a lame duck.. to quote Steve Somers of WFAN, I hope Wade Phillips remains the head coach of the Dallas AS MANY YEARS AS POSSIBLE!

One more item... The Jets are out as long as the Ravens win, which they will, up by 17. Wonder's worst nightmare is now having to watch the Jets (down 14-9 as of this comment) somehow WIN. That would be meaningless (forget the worse draft pick), but it would also give the Patriots and "Belidick" a playoff spot, instead of the Jets losing and securing Miami's playoff spot.

Eagles up 34-3, I will pay good money to see Jerry Jones after this one. Wade is getting served up on a platter. Imagine your head coach sending out the punting team on 4th and inches and your QB overrules YOU! At least the QB has a pair.

Wade Phillips, what a lamewad. That he was even hired to begin with shows what utter contempt Jerry Jones has for Cowboy fans. He thinks they're stupid. He thinks if he considers his team "good" the coach doesn't matter. What a tool, I'm glad they're getting their asses kicked by Philly, which at least is a team I can muster up some respect for.

Looks like Eagles @ Vikes and Falcons @ Cards next week. Two roads winners would hardly surprise me. The Eagles might even be a slight favorite. If they win, it'll be round 3 with the Giants the following week.

As far as the Giants go, after last season, this actually feels weird. After W17 and the 4 wild playoff games of last season the ending to this season seems postively serene. I can't wait to see if the Giants can get it done as the top dog this time.

Philly vs Gmen in round 2. Brings back memories of Sehorn and that miraculous int. for a TD.

Philly is playing quite well right now and makes me nervous facing them in round 2. Wish Tampa had won against.....Oakland (@^&^&@??).

Dallas appears to be in good hands with Jones.....I think ABC, CBS or NBC should sign them up for a soap opera series.

Jets; from 8-3 to 9-7 and out of the playoffs, watching their old QB celebrate a division title on their own field. On how many more levels can this suck for a Jets fan? Joe Benigno will probably have a coronary on the air tomorrow.

listen to me RW Mcpoopoohead is going to cost us a playof game if he returns punts....we need to get him from back there

Much happier that Philly beat Dallas. LMAO when I saw Romo wave off the punt team and Phillips has this Alfred E. Newman look on his face. In any event, don't think that Philly can walk into Minnesota and beat them easily. The Vikes do defend the run very well and have the ability to shut down Westbrook. We all know that the Philly "D" is all about pressure and if A.P. can run it...then Philly will be at a disadvantage. In any event it should be a good game.

I'm very concerned about our kickoff team...and I just don't know if Tynes is the answer, only because every team seems to find a seam or large opening and break off big chunks of yardage.

Gotta think our team will use the bye week well and get some much deserved rest.

well, carney finally missed a fg--yeah, i know kos are horrible and could be blamed--and it cost them the game. but pretty amazing the gmen almost won playing backups the 2nd half to a team playing at home for their division and playoffs. no doubt the giants would have won if it counted for them.

dual 1000 yd rushers!!! wow!

absolutely loved seeing philly eagles destroy the dallas egos! jerry jones got plenty of moans! and they spent too many draft picks already too. hahaha

jets choke again... what else is new! yep, benigno will be crying in milk tomorrow.

tampa bay majorly choked too!!! will denver follow?

although i kind of like new orleans i have been rooting for them to lose this year just because of their [2nd and 5th] draft picks.

Just imagine the difference if Parcells was still the Dallas coach.

All that talent gone to waste.
