Showtime and Terrell Owens

1) Well, not Showtime for the Giants. I watched most of the showtime program last night for any remarks from Simms on the Giants' implosion, and all I saw was him being playfully mocked and derided for last week's picks. You see, he was intelligent enough, or stupid enough depending on your perspective, for actually thinking that teams like the Titans and Giants were better than their opponents! Imagine that!

Imagine the nerve of Simms to actually think that he had to prognosticate that Alge Crumpler and LenDale White were going to cough up the ball and the game to the Ravens. Yep, the Ravens beat up the Titans allright, even questionably taking out their RB Chris Johnson. You know, Johnson, the one that was mopping the floor with the Ravens until he got crunched like an illegal pretzel.

Imagine the nerve of Simms to actually think that he had to prognosticate that Manning would throw a moronic pass right into the hands of Asante Samuel! Go figure that the Giants defense would give up ~35 yards up until near the end of the half, the Giants defense would get a safety and an INT runback into ~FG position. Or that the opening kickoff would give the Giants the ball at the other team's 35?! Or that 2 FGs would be missed. OR THAT THEIR OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO GET HIS TEAM A SINGLE TOUCHDOWN?!

Yah, Simms got it ALL wrong, he poo-poo'd the wild card winners and went with the 4 best teams and got derided by Collinsworth. Wonder and I obviously were thinking Simms-like as well, so we were just as wrong. I guess if I have to think rationally and be wrong, I'd rather go that route than plan for my offensive coordinator to have learned ABSOLUTELY NOTHING from the Week 14 IDENTICAL matchup that we discussed DAYS BEFORE the game!

2) Separately, the Showtime reporter had a story that goes like this: it is going to be either Garrett or TO that goes bye-bye in Dallas. Jerry Jones essentially will have to choose between the two, because word is that Garrett cannot put up with the Owens insubordination anymore. And the sense from the reporter was that TO would be gone, because Garrett has the support of almost the entire team.

I wonder if Tom Coughlin could corral T.O.? It is apparent that we need a BIG wide receiver and we do not know how the Plax story will end at this time. I will admit that Pastime Princess was right all along. Looks like the Giants needed Plaxico as much as PP had argued several weeks ago. We did not get it done without him (or a receiver of his caliber). The question is, which set of issues would we want - Plaxico's or T.O.'s?

How about neither?

WONDER - help us out, who is a tall, fast, talented receiver that the Giants can actually pick up in the draft??

I don't want to end up with Plax again, and I hope the Giants don't go after TO! There has to be someone in the draft (obviously nobody in the draft is going to be as good as Plax or TO, but there has to be someone comparable, right?).

Please WONDER, work your magic!

I agree with Daniel. You want neither of those guys.

We could look at free agency, where Cincinnati’s T.J. Houshmandzadeh is the most accomplished player on the list. He isn't as tall but still very productive.

We could look at a trade. Arizona’s Anquan Boldin has been unhappy about his contract and he would certainly be worth a first-round pick if he forces his way out.

It’s a strong draft for wide receivers....with underclassmen Michael Crabtree (Texas Tech), Kenny Britt (Rutgers), Darrius Heyward-Bey (Maryland) and Jeremy Maclin (Missouri) already declaring. Florida’s Percy Harvin has until the today's deadline to make up his mind.

Now I haven't seen much of them except for Crabtree & Britt.

I'm anxious to here Wonder's take.

I agree with ULTIMATENYG, take a wideout in free agency. This position is too critical to us to risk picking wrong in the draft.

Why not Braylon Edwards? He was terrible this year and couldn't hang on to the ball. But the prior year he was great and he definitely fits the mold; big huge target, physical presence, etc.

Plus, I think the dropsies he had last yr. were mental. I'd like to think that the vets on the Giants could get him in line nicely.

Cody...

That could be a great addition. Braylon Edwards is young enough, big enough etc. With a new regime over there...they might not want to retain him. ( probably wishful thinking on my part however )

Forget about the tall WR. Get a new offensive coordinator! And perhaps a coach to teach Manning to throw a tighter spiral, if that is at all possible.

We need a LB desperately. We need a LT and/or other help on the Offensive line. We have two recent 2nd round WR picks. It is time to see if either of these guys are ready for prime time.

The real question on defensive line will be whether Osi can return to his previous level of play. There is a chance that he might never be the same.

I believe championships come down to defense. We have enough talent on the offensive side of the ball to win a championship. Eventhough the defense didn't lose the game on Sunday, they didn't win it either. A shut down D, covers up for a lot of mistakes on the O. Makes the field shorter, more TO Lets upgrade our defense more!
